Supporting The Warruwi Indigenous Community
The Warruwi Indigenous Community is located on the remote South Goulburn Island in West Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. The Warruwi School on the island provides an education for 116 students from 0-18 years of age. The school offers a FaFT program (Families as First Educators), combined grades classrooms and employment pathways program for high school students. Kangaroo Jack has recently donated footballs and football boots for all the students to play with as part of their recreational activities at Warruwi School. Proceeds from sales of the Kangaroo Jack x Sherrin Indigenous Football were used to purchase football boots for all the students.

The 'Kangaroo Badagarang Jack’ artwork was created by Indigenous Australian artist M.J. Badagarang.
“The traditional name for a kangaroo in Dharug Country is ‘Badagarang’, this is my totem animal that I must always protect and cherish. The kangaroo is a strong, native Australian animal and is considered to be very family orientated. The yellow, orange and brown lines featured in the artwork represent the rivers in Australia. Rivers are important to us as traditional people as it provides life to ‘Country’. In my culture the term ‘Country’ refers to people, animals, place and land. The red and orange dots that form small circles represent communities, signifying the 250 Aboriginal Countries that make up Australia. The yellow dots connect us all, as one people. No matter where you come from, I acknowledge you and thank you for visiting the stories my old people left us. Let’s walk together.” M.J. Badagarang
